Our alternative fuels luncheon generated a lot of audience participation, business questions and opportunities for our members to test drive new vehicles.
Guest presenters Brett Jacobsen with Harnish Auto Family, Jon Wadsworth with Blu LNG located off SR 167 at the 24th Street Interchange, and Jim Bond with Valley Freightliner, Inc., located in Pacific, spoke about their specific businesses and how they see alternative fuels impacting transportation, as well as future technology and transportation standards in their industries. Our local auto dealers brought diesel, electric and hybrid vehicles to the event for test drives and member questions. State Representative Dick Muri, had an opportunity to share some of the state environmental initiatives that are being discussed relating to transportation and to announce that he is now a proud owner of an electric vehicle.
Jon Wadsworth answered questions about why Blu located an LNG fueling station in Sumner and what their company is anticipating for future growth. With a cost of more than two million dollars to build an LNG station, Blu is interested in Sumner's 15,000+ truck trips per day in the industrial park.
Jim Bond, New Truck Sales Manager at Valley Freightliner, Inc., shared what's new in Class A trucks and how the truck manufacturing industry is responding to new environmental and safety standards anticipated in the future.
A big thank you to our luncheon sponsor, Patty Denny of Fix Auto Puyallup, who brought several representatives from the auto repair industry, Larry Hultz, Jeff Steadman and Mark Olson who shared how new car safety and performance standards are impacting their industry. And a thank you to the Best Western Premier Plaza Hotel & Conference Center, Mama Stortini's, Korum Automotive Group and Bill Korum's Puyallup Nissan.
Thanks to all of our members who attended and participated in the conversation, and to Jerry Yoder who brought a vintage '55 Chevolet to help us celebrate the Good Guys car show coming to the Fairgrounds later this month.
