Once again a Korean delegation from Gimje Horizon Festival and Pai Chai University came to the Washington State Fair and "Did the Puyallup". Professor Gang Hoan Jeong, who is also President of IFEA Korea, continues to arrange delegation meetings with senior staff at the Washington State Fair to learn about their business model. While many fairs and events across the country and internationally operate on a publicly funded model, the Washington State Fair is a privately funded model that contributes more than two million in taxes annually. A fact that greatly interests the Korean culture as all of their festivals and events are publicly funded.
This is Professor Jeong's fourth trip to the Washington State Fair and he has brought several Korean mayors and city officials to see firsthand how our fair operates and the economic impact it has on our region.
This year our Chamber represented the Washington State Fair and the City of Puyallup in Korea at the Gimje Horizon Festival and signed an MOU to commit to strengthening cultural ties locally. Many of our local education members are already working on reciprocal ventures between the two cities and regions. If your business has established relationships in Korea, please let us know at the Chamber. Send us an email to info@puyallupsumnerchamber.com.
